Text Neck

Text Neck

Did you know the heavy weight of texting too much could severely impact your spine?

‘Text Neck’ describes injuries and pain resulting from too much time spent looking down at wireless devices causing: headaches, upper back, shoulder and neck pain or arm pain. The new medical term implies the arched neck position caused by constant forward head position, which results in strain on the spine.

The average person spends 2-4 hours daily looking down at a mobile phone or tablet; and this is not including the long hours spent hunched over at a computer desk. This is a lot of pressure and extra weight on the neck and shoulders!

Chronic headaches, herniated discs, pinched nerves, neck and shoulder pain, dizziness, spinal pain and curvature of the spine are symptoms of ‘Text Neck’. The culprit? Mobile devices. We recommend holding the phone at eye level, and if possible, limit the use of electronics. Regular exercise is our core belief in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and a stronger spine, for a healthier, happier, you.

Take care of your spine so that it takes care of you.
